Plastic Landscape Edging
People are choosing plastic landscape edging because it’s a cost-effective and durable solution to their landscaping needs. The plastics industry has come a long way since its beginning and has revolutionized the way products are made. Today’s plastic manufacturers can create practically anything out of plastic. Plastic is extremely weather resistant which is why it’s not uncommon to see plastic park benches, docks, decking material and even plastic landscape edging.
Plastic landscape edging is functional
The most common type of plastic landscape edging comes on rolls typically 20, 40 or 60-feet long with widths ranging from 4- to 5-inches. This relatively non-descript style of edging is perfect for use below ground level. There, it helps to keep grass roots from creeping over into the landscaped area. The top edge is rolled to reduce the hazards that commonly occur with non-finished edging materials.
Plastic landscape edging can also keep other types of landscape materials separate. For example, there’s a plastic landscape edging that can be used alongside the edge of pavers. The side positioned against the pavers acts as a retaining wall, helping to keep the pavers firmly in place. Against the other side of the edging, mulch, stones or other landscaping material can be added. The end result is a clean line of distinction between the two materials.
Because the material is easy to form, you’ll find a wide selection of decorative plastic landscape edging that’s sure to look great in any area. It’s easy to add color during the manufacturing process which is why you’ll find edging in a multitude of colors including terra cotta, green, black and brown. You’ll even find plastic landscape edging that has a look of natural stone!
Curved lines or straight
Plastic is very flexible which makes installation in areas that encompass a lot of curves simple. And because water can’t damage it, plastic landscape edging is perfect for outlining a pond or other type of water feature.
To install, make a vertical cut into the ground surface that’s deep enough to contain the plastic landscape edging, position, and then backfill. Or if installing above the ground surface, just shape the edging as desired and hold in place using plastic anchors and/or coupling kits.
Grab a roll of plastic landscape edging and see for yourself how many ways you can use it in your yard. You’ll find plenty of plastic landscape edging options right at your local home improvement store.
